Silk, Falling to the Floor

Step across the threshold, Step into my world. You can be my Summer; We will languish in the heat. Lying sweaty on top of messy sheets. Our time will seem to stretch out endlessly before us, And we will believe that this can go on forever. But when the air starts to cool our bodies, Lover, you’ll become my Autumn. Your love won’t be so sweet, And I’ll hunger for your force. Evening breezes will make me shiver, The way your touch does When you’ve cuffed my hands So that I cannot stop yours From going where they please. Slowly, the evenings will become so cold That we lay down our thickest blankets by the fireplace and spend the nights Making love there on the floor. You will surely be my Winter, Long into the night the wine will flow; The color of blood, the color of desire the power of my hunger for your touch. Eventually, the world around us will become less cruel; Leaves will start to reappear on the trees, And flowers will unfurl beneath the sun’s kindness. You will be my Spring, And I will be your answer to life’s little riddle . Again, I will get to see your body glisten with sweat And taste the salty skin that reminds me of the ocean deep. Time does not stand still, It passes over us, like silk falling to the floor.
