Tail-Rhyme

A Tail-Rhyme (also known as a tailed-rhyme) is a type of poem that has a very specific structure. In short, the piece begin with either a couplet or a triplet of lines that consist of rhymed lines. This set of either a couplet or triplet is then followed by a "tail", which is a line that does not rhyme with the couplet or triplet that preceded it. This tail line tends to be shorter in length than those lines within the couplet or triplet. This type of poetry can also be used with stanza, known as a tail-rhyme stanza, but in these pieces, all of the tail lines rhyme with each other.

Silent shadows scurry amongst the forest trees as a chill rides atop each frisky evening breeze. A dying sun bleeds red. An ebony veil obscures the end of the day as a million billion stars light the Milky Way. Dusk dilutes daylight inks. Nocturnal creatures with reflective yellow eyes stir, invisible in the dark's darkest disguise. Mosquitoes probe for blood. A liquid moon glows like molten gold where it pools, and the sky glitters, studded with twinkling jewels. The sandman awakens.

Now this one has more gorgeous imagery but lacks the final line rhyming effect. Love this one! I am going to check out your third and only other example. I believe you may prefer rhyming couplets to the rhyming triplets before the tail.

Thanks Andrea, I do like couplets, but I'm also fond of triplets, so we will see what entries are offered my friend, Emile.
