Silent Night

Through the vitreous glazing of my window, Strange eerie darkness torches out, Milky speckles twirl and dance along the sky, The once purple sky has been gracefully transformed, Into a vast expanse of jet black curtain, Another night has been born, Giving a sermon by a canopy of luminous stars. The cars no longer clutter the roads, Restaurants have shut down, People are presumably quietly sleeping, A conspicuous warming orange glow of street lamps, Rewards the smudgy illuminations of a lamp post, The cylindrical crickets aren’t rubbing their legs, These nights hide our flaws, Our imperfections find refuge in the darkness, It sends two souls together to bed, Yet still brings out residing demons to play, Those with itchy fingers forage the darkness to rob, Tick tock, The long arm of the clock dances around confidently, Enchanting the demons of the loud silent night.
