Silence

Silence is not golden When it comes to the heart The only thing you get rewarded Is the agony you receive As you're being torn apart And the regrets you feel When you're alone in the dark The wounds that just won't heal They never leave your heart The time it steals You look back one day to see how much You then realize you've seemed to have lost touch With all you'd known And the person you once were You come to see the words you couldn't say Has made you this way Now you have to live with that day after lonely day And those words well they're stuck with you in the silence They are there along with the tears you cry Through it all they will remain With the darkness and the pain What you took for granted The love you took in vain Without even knowing Silence can rob you of so many things So that you pillow is all you have in which to cling You write your words out that drift around in your head Cause at least that way they are being said Silence has no gratitude Keeps you locked away inside of solitude Alone with your fears Not to mention the endless nights of tears And then the thoughts of all the wasted years All silence needs is to be broken Or so much of your life will be stolen Time is divine Losing it quietly is a tragedy, it's a crime Silence can and will drive you out of your mind Your soul is what you'll search frantically to find When I found it I knew just what I had to do I was silent no longer I had to stand for once being stronger Then ever before I felt my time was due To scream to the world Just how much I'm in love with you
