Sideway Pinstripes
Anybody that’s ever done any kind of prison time knows,
that within those tall stark walls
there’s a lot of little scared girls flexing big muscles
And there’s a lot of deep thinkers
whose got tough cranial shells
When the Five-O come down hard cracking the skulls,
gray matter coconuts
ain’t afraid of some vacation time in jail
If you’ve been living your whole life
in an outdoor caged zoo
Smaller confined spaces
don’t much have any shock effect on you
The moral dilemma comes from
being in the wrong line of hustle
Should things on the job go sideways,
what will you choose to do
Will you make the dire choice to take a life,
or sacrifice a few years of your own to lose?
You gonna earn them sideway pinstripes,
if you chose to make the latter choice
Getting placed in a den of vipers,
you better learn not follow every voice
Turn your head sideways
when you see something bad about to go down
Keep your head up to the dangers
always lurking all around
Never take your eyes off of the warden’s clock,
let it tick down to double zero
Then take this hard life lesson learned,
and be a better person ... a ghetto hero
Rightly used freedom
when properly applied in life
will take you places you always wanted to go
Looking sideways
out of the open window ...
it’s so beautiful
to feel the smooth summer breeze
blowing on your sunshine face
As you now travel down life’s golden highway,
loving the taste of freedom exit from the long rocky road
After suffering many stripes pinned on you,
God has blessed you to decipher the hidden spiritual code
