Sick Stalkers On Soup

Why oh why do I have to learn Of poets compelled to leave here – it causes me great concern There are people who mock us, Then there are the poets here who block us I can ignore them - they don’t cause me alarm But there is a different type of person, they can cause great harm Hiding behind their keyboard, wearing a veiled disguise There are those who stalk, victimise and terrorise They need teaching a lesson and kicking hard right in their flies! I know it’s not just the ladies who suffer this type of abuse Guys can get hooked in and trapped like in a noose These childish idiots need to go home and play with their dolls Please contact soup admin to get rid of these pathetic trolls Please, please, please don’t leave our group We need you here posting your poems on Poetry Soup 3rd June 2015

How sad that these venues can become the hunting ground for mentally unstable people. I am a little naive, I thought that they only frequented dating sites and Twitter. Nice work in raising awareness and still having some fun.

Thanks David I don't do social media - and I know skype accounts can get hit by 'men in uniform' trying to prey on vulnerable women - I even wrote a poem about it lol:-) Hugs jan xx

Excellent piece of work Jan, since Peter has been on we have had a few issues, in fact I have blocked a couple of them, a couple of women getting too friendly, we are here for poetry not dating etc., I think I told you what happened a few years ago on a poetry site, so we both won't put up with it again, these sites need to be looked in to, good on ya! for bringing it to our attention...........Vera........

Thanks Vera - it is not just the 'dating issue' it is the hounding stalking and victimising that is so so wrong - I wish they would install an alert button I have asked numerous times - to me it is more important than a link to twitter or 2facedbook:-) hugs Jan xx

Applause for posting Jan. If Admin don't take action, then it's time the members did it for them. All sites have to be policed. A few years back one person had about 7 accounts, for comments from said 7 aliases were strikingly similar. The Soup did nothing. They have a moral obligation to root out such, and as I say police their site. The laws are becoming stronger, flout them at ones peril. Terrific poem girl, hugs//James xxx

Thanks James - from the comments I have received it is obvious there is need for an alert button to soup - I have asked for it on numerous occasions so offensive poems and people could be dealt with speedily! Hugs Jan xx

Jan, I love your strong opinion. I have only run across 2 that I know of. I just turn the other cheek, you know which cheek and try to remember not to catch myself getting into their space again, a 7 . Hugs Eve

Jan, you did well to bring this subject to the attention of our members. Both stalkers and hackers exist, not just on Soup, but also on other sites, FB, etc. Vigilance is strongly recommended. Hugs // paul

i have kinda witnessed moments like this on soup and it really makes me want to scream.. what makes a person so obsessed with such action and behavir?.. now, i hope you don't go blockin' me, jan.. huggs but ouch ( this new episode on soup)..

Loved this, however I will say this, overall I think there is far more great wonderful people as you, and in any large group you will always find a few bad a apples! THe best solution is so very simple, ignore the rest, and focus on the best!!!!!! Did I say Moi? LOL

I agree entirely Arthur there are a few bad apples in all aspects of our lives but the effect t can be so bad that they can take no more and leave - that is the sad thing:-( Hugs Jan xx

So glad you wrote this Jan, there as been many poems like this written in the past and will have to be in the future,,,this sort of behaviour keeps on keeping on and in many ways also some very subtle,,and we keep losing poets,,,we need to stick together i've been around now for 5 years here on soup,,and it is so good to see old friends and many of them still here,,Again good on you it is a good poem and the message superb...

After many years since joining Soup, this community has grown beyond expectation, and although most everyone has been friendly,sincere, while kindness has flourished, the element of risk is always a concern.I hope that most of us are wise enough to use caution, how much to reveal, who to trust with our personal information.Even at that, it is daunting that someone can know too much and use it for evil purpose.I hate to see a friend inclined or forced to leave for such a reason.How sad is that..

I have been very saddened recently to learn a member has been forced to leave because of a stalker - the comments below make me realise how many people have actually been affected and i am sure this is just the tip of the iceberg - none of us really know who is behind the keyboard and I agree caution is essential :-) Hugs Jan xx

I am so saddened to read the comments to find it has affected so many people - i hate to see a wonderful poet driven away by the actions of a sick sad person and other poets forced to change their names - sadly we do not really know who is lurking behind a keyboard:-( hugs Jan xx

Jan, this is the truth that you write, it has happened to me and I know some men who have been stalked as well. We come here for poetry and have to deal with all this other stuff, the stalkers, hackers, complainers, mockers, know it alls and yesterday my heart was shattered losing a beloved poet friend from this site your poem is so moving A 7 and thanks for visiting my poem, after all these years ...The inscription will be done within the next few weeks

Blight of the internet I'm afraid Jan, some people just want to ruin it for everyone else. Just have to learn who you can trust an not get involved if they visit you, ignore them and they generally go away. Great poem to highlight this issue. Take care, Richard

AWESOME plea for Soup to hear us, Jan. they really need to kick these sickos off. Unfortunately these creeps use multiple accounts and know how to beat the system. so how can Soup do anything either? No what I mean??

This is terrible, I knew there were squabbles from time to time but I had no idea people were being stalked, I hope TPS will take action, and get rid of these trolls...

I love this poem! It was truly enlightening for me! I had no idea that all of this was going on! Everyone has seemed very friendly and welcoming to me so far. I guess I have been here about 6 months... Hopefully this is a problem that can easily be fixed. Poetry soup has been such a blessing for me. A wonderful way to release my words into the world and have others read. At the same time, reading other's poetry has made me much more wise and aware of different types of poems. God bless!

Reading the comments of others on here makes me sad - I am sure you will be fine Anna - but sadly it is happening and lovely people are leaving or have left - i was shocked to read Nette's comment - made it even more real to me - we just need to have our wits about us - anyone can be lurking behind a screen in cyber space:-( Hugs jan xx
