Shy Brook
Shy Brook dares to show a sliver of a slip of herself
Challenging Punxsutawney Phil’s six week prediction
Giving us a tiny hopeful smile in the winterized forest
Not allowing layers of heavy white snow to rule her
Her optimism delights me; I feel a glimmer of a wisp of hope.
I envision her locks full flowing in a few weeks.
Today the weather is predicted to be a high of forty-three.
That is sixty-seven degrees warmer than most of last week.
I smile, visualizing Shy Brook’s tiny bubbles, camouflaging minnows.
