Shrouded In Mist

Shrouded in mist, the skies seem so mundane,
offset by shades of lavender and green;
ordinary, redefined by the rain.
As thunder roars, clouds morph into a mane
and lightning flashes streak across the scene;
shrouded in mist, the skies seem so mundane.
Gusting winds spin a rusty weather vane
testing the sturdiness of Man's machine;
ordinary, redefined by the rain.
The river rises as soggy slopes drain
and electrified air smells ozone-clean;
shrouded in mist, the skies seem so mundane.
The clouds disperse; only a few remain,
yet the leaves on the trees retain their sheen,
ordinary, redefined by the rain.
The monstrous storm, now depleted and slain,
the grey skies shift back to aquamarine.
Shrouded in mist, the skies seem so mundane;
ordinary, redefined by the rain.
