Showing Off Now

It's not the coat It's the switch in me Or perhaps the eyeliner Is the key I'm being told I look nice From the school gate to the pool I'm swanning around now, feeling cool The coolest of all Is the "you look like when we first met" Maybe my upset mood I'll forget Even the doorbell cam was in on the act Confirming my allure was a cold hard fact It's been noted my look is gothic inspired I'd forgotten how much I like being admired I always fear when the last time will be For today at least I looked again like me

I'm sure you look lovely, but nothing like kid's honesty to put a damper. My daughter tells me that her 5-year-old always lists her makeup flaws. But there again she is rather partial to a Frozen theme look, so... Lol. Great poem Dilly.

Thanks Maria - I was just having fun, although all true in terms of compliments apart from the doorbell cam bit - it was just more flattering than a previous day's footage that had been particularly cruel haha! I'd not looked much like myself for a bit and it was nice to recognise me in the mirror again so I hammed it up a bit for the poem. Thanks for your comment x

My 7 year old drew 2 pictures of me this morning - wearing make up and not wearing make up - I was tempted to put that up as my pic. I presume you remember me putting up a photo after I'd written that poem about the bearded woman haha! I forgot I stopped using this current picture as it looks like I have a 5oclock shadow hahaha!

Thanks Jan - it's just one of those funny days where I feel rearranged into a nicer version of myself (although I checked with both daughters and they reeled off a list of flaws haha)

There's the facts (4 compliments today plus a few people unusually striking up conversation) but there's also the truth - I look good for the school gate and the local swimming baths haha. I shall remain anonymous.
