Short-Lived

Cast him not in bronze, Nor sculpt in pottery clay, Lay down the chisel Where the marble bust holds sway. Better to fold paper In the Origami play, So when fame has died, He can quickly blow away.

Thank you for reading this poem. Thank you for the fave. By the way, there is a famous Japanese Origami artist who creates lasting paper art. Not all paper blows away.

I enjoyed the wisdom in this, dear Hilda. If busts of people in great fame are made in metal or in concrete, it is difficult to break them when they fall out of the favor of people. Fame is transitory.

Oh, I like statues because they are art. I try to covey that there is unfounded talent that never succeeds for various reasons. Some just blow away.thank you for visiting.

Such a wise and profound poem, that is meaningful dear hilda! I love how youv ended it! Fame never lasts but in pursuit of fame so many go to extremes, it’s unbelievable today: but like everything in life fame too wanes. Pleasure reading you poem. I love the fact that you write on so many various subjects in such poetic manner. Sending you light always

Thank you. I did not want to sound mean. Fame has many reasons for failure. It's sad when it is caused by things beyond control.

Love the subtle put-down of immortality implicit in your lines. So true that fame is fleeting...

I hope I don't sound .mean. Some talent doesn't come to fruition. Perhaps the timing isn't right or there aren't enough resource. There are many reasons. Thank you for your comment.
