The silence, the still, The nobodies nothing, The secretive cold, calming death, Where everyone read And solved every problem Under their buttoned up breath. Under that silence, though, Thoughts screamed out loud: How? What? ….Why? When? … Reject!! And: When did we even learn this stuff? I never even liked that subject! You see, exams were stress Built upon hard, Shooting anxious out to the free, And everyone sat them Throughout all our lives, From prep right up to degree. That’s when we learnt to cope, To prepare the nerves, We all learnt what it is to be smart, Not marks on exams, Rather everything that we love, To value what’s close to our heart.
