'shielding the Unsung Heroes'

bald eagle a shield
memories omnipresent
greeted by silence
over time the tears might dry
remembered for your valor

Wilma, I will dedicate any success in the earthly elements contest to your dear mother. What does she like to do in the dirt the most? My professor at school has had this website up on the board during lectures...eagles are my favorite birds.. Your poem captures the reverence of this bird...I have learned so much from this website tracking their peculiar ways. Pappa eagle dropped a huge rat in the nest to feed the eaglets daily. That was rather gruesome. Check it out, girl. http://www.ustream.tv/decoraheagles Gwendolen
