Shark My Killing Machine
Shark, my handsome hunter cat
a diabolical killing machine,
laps his water daintily like a lady in waiting
It is difficult to coordinate this prissy
licking cat with his other side,
the side that waits for hours for
prey to stop by
Shark has his own kill room
where we found the carcasses of twenty-eight
last year.
Three rabbit, two cardinals, two bunnies,
Two squirrels, two voles, two mole, and
fifteen mice which had all been torn to shreds.
Most no longer had faces.
I watch this prissy lady-in-waiting-like cat
And I am astounded.
