Notes About The Poem

Seventh Heaven

I plunged headfirst, my silly stilted pride


          The instant I beheld your Cheshire smile


                    And dancing in a frame of summer blond


          The gold-specked umber iris of your eyes


From first hellos until this breath I draw


          Your heart has thrummed as if my very own


                    Despite the snares and distances ... of life.




~ 2nd Place ~  in the "Seven Lines Of Romantic Heaven" Poetry Contest, Silent One, Sponsor. The truly ironic thing is that I met my first true love on July 7, 1977, and the "luckiest" number for both of us was seven.
