Seven Sunday Senryu
the cardinals nest
in a leafless white birch tree
…awaiting sunrise
wandering cow paths
a cobblestone history
…fog on the water
A sleepy sunrise
slow dances with the dust motes
…an unopened book
an old barking dog
hears not its distant echo
…chasing memories
billowing beauty
seen through the eyes of children
…passing clouds perform
domesticated
a window cat licks itself
…predatory death
An ancient Elm knows
Time scars all that it touches
…with its gnarly grasp
