Seven For Chaos and Order - My Path Determined By One Chaotic Day

Fresh out of college, I got a substitute teaching job in junior high school Spanish classes - my WORST nightmare. Spitballs were flying; students leaped over desks like zoo animals. School ended; I was holding back tears, an utter wreck! Right then I decided I would only teach my minor, English to adult foreign students actually wanting to learn from me. My life path was set; peace and fulfillment would follow. Jan. 29, 2017 for nette onclaud's SEVEN FOR CHAOS AND ORDER Poetry Contest

Really liked this piece, Andrea, having been there and experienced a classroom out of control. Principal told me, "You should have seen them last week." and she had taught them herself for a week while they were looking for a new college grad to graduate mid-term. I survived in that third grade classroom and taught children for 39.5 more years. But many an afternoon, I went home and cried. Good one, Andrea, congratulations.

How sad that students are allowed to act like this and that you my sister were messed up because of them acting like animals. Thus having you get a job in a area that is needed but not allowing you to have all the benefits of a regular school teacher.

I can relate to this! I subbed in a high school and it was crazy as you noted. I have doing ESL at the Borough of Manhattan Community College since 2000. Hope you and yours are well and good luck in the contest. I just entered a contest! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Love the verse , a class full of students can really make it hard on a lone person espically if they feel they can get your goat. They have to trust you, besides fear you , an love you :-) I'm not sure if I did my entry correct. But I feel you are right it will get worse before we see happy days . Good luck in the contest! Hugs
