Set In Our Ways

I try to tell myself
as often as possible that
I know nothing

you see, then there is
always open to learn

I see nothing
so my eyes must stay
sharp

I hear nothing
so I listen
even into the silence

I am never there
so time should not be
wasted

keep trying to prove
my love

appreciated by those
who also hold me dear

Hi Gershon; I try...always having to remind myself. Never certain I am going to heaven, often having to clean off my shoes.

Good one mate, we can't get irate' there might Be a plummet in our rateing state? Too many Times I've tried so hard.' Yet couldn't escape Me own backjyard..N its been fulla junk and Things; i've kept. The odd barrel of anger and tons Of regret.' Yes there's a time to be still. And relax A bit, see when the Lord drives out some run hits'

Sounds like a plan, Joe; In the silence, all is still, paused over the lips of eternity...now I know the meaning of a word-drop, and the ripple voice of eternal sea. God wants to speak to us, constantly I think...if we only quiet down enough. Blessings my friend.

I think so. Only 2 know-it-alls, I must listen to are~ God and my wife -- oh, and our family cat, so that makes 3.

'tis humbling as we age to understand that in the big picture 'we know nothing.' Your poem captures that thought beautifully. Keep writing in your poetic voice. It fills a void...wishing you a splendid evening, Sara

Great description of what it means to be "open-minded" but in the good way. Very well done, Joe

Nobody knows everything. All of us are people of imperfections. We can keep striving to become more perfect. Let us love others so that we are also loved. This humility of yours is much appreciated.

Hi Valsa; I look down on no one -- we are all wayward souls, equally loved and being redeemed by God. Loved does not mean that, we are not subject to the judgement of our behavior. God, likewise, is not separate, living outside His law. This statement, may appear poorly written to some; seeming, somewhat convoluted...but it is not. Every word is where I want it, exactly placed, for clear elucidation. I understand my intentions perfectly:)) In my opinion:)) Thank you, my friend. You are very wise.
