Before Reality Kicks In
Sol rises in all His splendor,
dissolving the darkness of night.
And sunlight breaks over the horizon
witnessing
the birth of dawn.
Sunbeams dance across my eyelids
as purple, yellow, and tangerine
blend into dream
floating at the edge of awake
where they can be seen.
Sleep slips away
and my mind welcomes a new-day
basking in the tranquility
of the moment
before reality kicks in...
