Premiere Contest WinnerSeptember Splendor

Nourished by garland skies of scarlet blue
And velvet grass in golden green festoon
September wed us; one heart, made of two

Days of turquoise kisses, too much, too few
Cloud castles filled our eyes, too long, too soon
Nourished by garland skies of scarlet blue

As courting butterflies demurely flew
In circles, touching a sunset lagoon
September wed us; one heart, made of two

Oaks framed in ancient splendor crafted new
Leaves burst in layered passion of maroon
Nourished by garland skies of scarlet blue

Once summer romance burned off, what is true
Love's music swayed our souls, set to its tune
September wed us; one heart, made of two

I held one ivory rose, clinging dew
Made lovelier under her sapphire moon
Nourished by garland skies of scarlet blue
September wed us; one heart, made of two.

This day turned out to be a wonderful muse for your golden pen this year, Michelle! This or Green Anniversaries are great contenders for Anthology entries, right up there with Roses of Agony. All are topnotch, as good as it gets at PS; IMHO, anyway. Happy 15th, enjoy the day and every minute you have together, for life is precious and love is a gift. One heart, made of two. May your September Splendor be "Nourished by garland skies of scarlet blue". Hugs ~ John

I am deeply flattered by your generous words, John - I am still trying to decide which poem to enter for the anthology (because I am not a Premium Member, I can do only one) but I am leaning towards Green Anniversaries, since it has the most Faves of all my poems (and is one the top 100 poems of all time, too - as is your gorgeous That Starry Night, congrats on that, by the way!) I am hoping you are having a beautiful day, my friend :)

Michelle, till this very point didnot know that this muse of yours got the POTW title also. Congratulations for double top honours and thankyou for participating in my contest. The ' 'one heart made of two' romantic undercurrent gave it the finesse for this top placement in a very tight premier contest. Best. Mohan

Autumn and romance - quite a pair, my friend. This is tender with imagery as rich as the color of fall leaves. I love the pairing of opposites "scarlet blue." So happy for your selection as POTW. Congratulations!
