Inspired by Olive Eloisa Guillermo's poetry contest: "I am Not Ashamed of The Gospel"
Once upon a time, I believed that earthly men held felicity keys
Myriad of joy one special someone would woo me to rely on
But soft whispers serendipitous of grace, I heard with ease
Steep in thought, I surely had reached zenith of my reflections.
At times I lived and breathe guilt. Passage of my life held stripes
Alone before inner mirror, my muse hushed, as I turned within
Sensing some celestial being so near, it cast light on daylight
I saw that putting earthly man before my Creator was a sin.
All I'd ever known: dread, toil, woe, they all turned symphony
Tranquility saturated my soul as I reached for my telephone
Hugged my new found thought; epitome of gift above any
Then in dulcet tone, I asked for the nearest SDA church to my home.
Enraptured Sabbath was a day away, I breathe that spring, anew
For "Seek Ye First..." resonated, and "No Man Cometh..." coalesce
I would take Him at His promises; but Jesus, to me, was Catalyst overdue
Tears cascaded sans shame; blessings began to flow as though a test.
I called down South to family, and shared epiphany I've had
I would yield, volunteer, give thanks and life praises to my God
I shredded fear and found fresh spark that made me glad
My life became a constant advent season, as I look up to God.
"Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33)
"No man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)
