Secrets
Scarlet, grey and blacker than
The blackest primordial depths of man;
Whispers lighter than snowflakes,
Slithering slicker than grass snakes.
Telling of earth and turmoil,
Desire, love and graveyard soil;
Spilling guts and dreams galore,
Rags that patrol the killing floor.
Bounced off the drum of the inner ear,
Absorbed, digested, loud and clear;
Confidence kept of given away,
Truth or lies or hearsay.
Trustworthy tales of what will be,
Resolute faith or heresy;
The secret secrets she accepts
Are the key or the manacle of her sex.
