Sea Scars

There’s a story here, embedded within a righteous reef of broken silence, where scars remain engraved on sea stars, entangled between sand in empty oyster shells, reminding me to breathe until i reach the surface, for hope still swims through the barnacles that bloom amidst the blues. These tears mean nothing and everything as they define the demons I disguise through violent dawns, though my will to grasp onto faith is slowly wearing out. Life and its merciless ways of enlightening murky waters with reflections of taunting tortures endured across miles, Keep me unconsciously drowning, uncontrollably, unable to seize glowing planktons.

I love the metaphors in this powerful and wonderfully descriptive poem. The line, "hope still swims thru the barnicles" reassures the reader that although the writer is in a state of deep despair, he or she remains hopeful. I feel like I'm scuba diving here. I think it's deserving of a POTD for certain.

It was snorkeling in Cancun. I don't know how to dive so I appreciate the you clarifying. I write so early in the am hours and it's amazing how my spelling has gone down the tubes these days also. I do love that term "word weaving", very whimsical Ms. Ink. You are quite a talented writer.

Sigh, what an emotive and heart-aching write that can stir so many feelings within the soul. It mainly transpires the complex emotion, of being to weary to trust anymore in faith and hope.. The most important fundamentals that keep ourselves going.."scars remain engraved on sea stars", "hope still swims through barnacles that bloom amidst the blues", "the tears mean nothing and everything" Sigh, I can feel the vulnerability here, and I know where this comes from..truly painstaking and deep

"My will to grasp onto faith is slowly wearing out", "keep me unconsciously drowning.. Unable to seize glowing planktons" The way you've described this is a very yes, island-ish way as you say, this has truly held my heart spellbound.. Although being very poignant, it reads beautifully.. Another evocative write from your bleeding Ink.. Love this so much!

Embedded scars as deep as the sea, the amazing way you have characterised the ocean and the depth felt in your heart, the suffocation that; “ Keep me unconsciously drowning“ what a emotional coral scape of beauty you describe. Beautiful Daisy

Hope and destiny are within this excellently presented new creation my good friend. A true poet's thoughts grace the eager page. We all face life's travails but some seem to have it worse. Your poetry seems to flow from a master has seen and lived. A true gem and a clear fav for me. God bless you.

Inky, as always, I am left with a fullness of admiration unlike the "empty oyster shells" in your tidal sorrow. This poem has all of the elements of a beach in the pacific NW - "oyster shells, "barnacles," "glowing planktons" of August phosphorous. I, too, have scars from scrapes with barnacles. I love your sense that even though these things keep you "constantly drowning" you rise to the surface again and again still seeking life in sea stars. Thank you for this poetic gem. Blessings.

Hope is probably humanity’s biggest illusion IE, yet without it life becomes nihilistic, and the demons flood in to fill the void, nicely written with extremely deep metaphors, cheers David

Your poem dear, INK is an exquisite work of art. It is evident that this piece carries a deeply personal sentiment, as opposed to being a mere creation of fiction. Hope, as a guiding light, is what breathes life into our souls. You have exposed the scars etched into your mind and heart, revealing a vulnerability that only a skilled poet could navigate. Venturing into the depths of your wounds, gracefully pouring your emotions onto the page while skillfully enduring the powerful waves of life.

Knowing what I know this feels personal. In any case hope is struggling here. "Hope still swims through barnacles..." I'm familiar with them and how they are so difficult to remove from a hull. "these tears mean nothing... and everything." I can identify with this expression. I wonder if your work can sometimes bring you down. It takes a special person to deal with others' trauma day in and day out. But whether this is true to life or fictional it's a great read Inky

Kingy, everything i write is real, i cant write fiction, as i only bleed emotions. I thank you for your sincere feedback. Yes some of the terms like planktons and barnacles only few would understand besides islanders. Being an empath is draining, taking others emotions too is . I appreciate u

The diction of the sea.. its alluring image and scary mystery! You have chosen to bare your soul there with a story of scars engraved in your mind and heart.. Only an adept poet can walk on the edge of wound and pour her ink while surfing and weathering powerful waves! Great one! Dear Empress! God bless your amazing soul.
