Screams, Screeches, Groans and Wails

Screams, screeches, groans and wails,
Brutalities, agonies, torture, and blood,
Tear Gases, pallet guns, bullets and bombs
Humanity sobs, world is falling apart
Does anyone care?

Kids are blinded
Men are jailed
Women are molested
The old are tortured

Luckily, you have food
Billions are starving
You have a warm blanket
Trillions live under the frigid sky

Dreams are murdered
Voices are unheard
Wishes are being blurred
Every heart has become graveyard

Sweet melodies step down as Sighs take over the throne
Rainbow of Joy is washed off by the deluge of tears
Soul of humanity becomes a pray of endless wild Forest of Wars
While atrocities have robbed Jaws of their smiles..

Yet you say the world is beautiful??
Yeah, for you, as you are at peace….
Come out of your palace
You will see….
Sky painting itself red!
Butterflies renouncing their dreams
Birds with trimmed wings
Blood oceans, barren trees, burnt houses,
Teared eyes, and shattered bodies

Earth is ugly
Earth is savage
Earth is a cage
Earth is but a jinxed place

I often feel the exact same way. What happens in places we don't see should concern us deeply and cause us to intervene in a positive way. This is different from what many people write about and I appreciate reading it.

As long as there is god poetry that has not been corrupted there is still hope. However it came about NZ is better off for you being here to prick our conscience with poetry well penned. Glad I finally caught up with your work. I was born and bread here and appreciate that fact along with having a 3 decade plus marriage, 3 grown children , 2 girls and 1 boy and 1 grandson all living close by. in Wainuiomata Lower Hutt. Wars, uprisings, insurrections should alarm us all to their cruelty, regardless of where they occur. Your poem speaks mightily of war's terrible costs. It's hard to find peace among hate. Congratulations on your win!

Yeah, we usually ignore such things because we have never been through all this. But I believe all people with heart should care about it. These need to stop. All humans deserve happiness, and peace. Cheers!

Quite a thorough + well expressed list of the brutalities of war. Strong metaphors, too. Congratulations on your placement. Best wishes, Brian

This is a stark look at the nature of human beings. A well expressed and sobering first poem. Well done and a belated welcome to the soup.

Mankind's inhumanity to man, woman child knows no bounds, so sad to say, but unfortunately true. Mother Earth is ready to rebel, infuriated by how we've treated Her and the inhabitants of her once lovely life-giving sphere. Such a passionate and moving piece, Paghunda. Your potent pen draws attention with powerful and poignant imagery. A great first piece to post at PS. Welcome to the Soup! Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

I have read both this and your rewrite tonight. So very affecting. Perspective is everything. As a lover of our little blue planet horrified by the nature of our species I appreciate your amendment. I know how lucky I am to live in Canada. You have helped put my own miseries in perspective tonight. Bless you, xomo

Powerful write esp in the valentine's Season...earth is pure and same as God gave us ..we human keep fighting to.make territories...greed to get more n be more powerful is a never ending negative emotions. That's why there's religion to teach love for God and to punish greed and revenge. If only we could understand we have a lifetime and we should enjoy life, all this would end. Good luck Sunita UPD

Thank you for your kind words dear Sunita. You are absolutely right. Earth was supposed to be heaven, but we have made it hell for many souls out there.

Paghunda, My dear friend it was always so, and always this way. So love like you would be loved. Give warmth, as you would be warmed. Extinction is the rule. Survival is the exception. -Carl Sagan

Right! But seeing your fellow humans in pain would render you peaceless. I have started ignoring these things though, as it was making me depressed. But still, one can't ignore them fully... At least the sensitive hearts can't..
