Sara's Waters

I approach the wooded trails and hear nothing save for my footfalls crunching in the soft snow. It is the kind of winter day that even a feather falls without drifting one way or the other. The trees stand straight, tall, and silent, their branches appearing as if they’ve been painted there. The water in the nearby stream is crystal clear and motionless, reflecting the cloudless morning sky. It was still, utterly still. crystal waters flow reflecting winter’s stillness peaceful Christmas scene Copyright © Sara Etgen-Baker | Year Posted 2023 A loud string of clear down-slurred two-parted whistles reach my ear. There is a little red cardinal tucked between thick foliage. Its an architectural beauty, an inquest. He looks at me with two round eyes then shows me a circular world made up of silence and noise. We are standing on a precipice of the Sacred. A unanimous ground holding space with Nature, Creature & Human, alike. winter evergreens snapshot of a Cardinal perched on my nightstand

I love your Haibun, Vie. I'm glad you extended Sara's Haibun with your lovely thoughts and well written Haibun. The imagery was exquisite, and it flowed smoothly with hers. A FAV for my list, my friend. It is beautiful when poet inspire one another to write such beautiful poetry. Have a pleasant weekend! Bill

Ahhh sweet rose you write so well and sara definitely an inspiration, queen of Haibun, im still reading her work to oneday be able to do prose. Your words flow well with hers and the way you’ve painted imagery is so stunning too. I especially loved “ A loud string of clear down-slurred two-parted whistles reach my ear. There is a little red cardinal tucked between thick foliage.” So descriptive! Impeccable! Definitely a fave

Wow, Rose! Just wow! Your Haibun is excellent and breathtaking with the images your created of the beautiful cardinal--one of my favorite birds. I loved the line: "We're standing on the precipice of the Sacred..." Such powerful, spiritual and creative words. The Haiku itself was eloquent...all those beautiful words created from a cardinal on your nightstand! Wow...Thanks for honoring me with including my Haibun as a predecessor to yours. You made my day! Have a splendid day/faving this one!
