Santa's Nap
Santa’s Nap
It was the night before Christmas
And old Santa was beat.
He had worked day and night
and had schedules to meet.
So he sat in his chair
For a short little nap,
Then rubbed his eyes
and took off his cap.
Then visions of toys
as he started to snore,
Drum sets and wagons
And toy trains galore,
Danced in his dreams
As he lay there to rest.
There were dolls and trucks
Sleds and wagons; the best!
Then he heard his reindeer
Playing in the snow,
As he stretched and yawned
He knew it was time to go.
He had slept all night through
Till Mrs. Claus woke him there
And gave him hot chocolate
With marshmallows to spare.
Then off to his workshop
Santa did go
And the elves were all there;
They just seemed to know
That today was the day
That they worked for all year.
They cherished this day
And their Santa so dear.
So off they all went
To deliver the toys
And bring smiles to the faces
Of little girls and boys!
