Sailor's Quandary

Shall I do penance for my hasty words, or poise myself on this quaint narrow quay to smell the salty perfume of the sea, on platinum ship sail so far away? I quiver with trepidation and dread. Forgive my horrid rashly spoken speech before I venture this stormy voyage. Assuage my repentant heart I beseech. Alas I am in sad, sad quandary. I pray you hear my true profound remorse, accept my ardent amends and redress, before I embark on this lonely course.

I wonder if anyone under 50 would take this sailor's quandary seriously these days? That is, the idea that our words have consequences! That they are heard upstairs! That we may suffer grievously for slips of the tongue!... I think that after Oprah and Jerry Springer did away with the notions of both restraining oneself and having any kind of privacy, America was doomed to follow the shipwreck of a course it is presently headed on. Icebergs to port and starboard. ~ Admiral Halsey

I would hope that they do. I know many younger people who are sensitive to others feelings despite Oprah and Jerry. ;) And some who might even believe that their words are heard upstairs, and a few who honestly feel morally responsible for their actions and words. At least that's the positivity I'm holding to. :) See ya Admiral! Linda
