Sagebrush of the West

Bouquet of the West, It's not easy to pass. Flower of the desert, Ruthless rout of the grass. Painters see the art In rolling mass of spheres. Fortress of the desert Where stout sagebrush appears. A deer's dainty feet Will find a way to pass, To walk through desert sagebrush, Sole welcomed to trespass

Ah, this brings back memories of camping trips that brought me as a kid to the Eastern side of the Sierras, and the wide expanse of the beautiful, fragrant sage brush.

That line - 'ruthless rout of the grass' - got me pondering not just sagebrush, bt the whole wild west. Thanks, Hilda.

Lovely! Love sagebrush -- an envied strength to its yielding/unyielding motion. Love the desert! A lot of life to see for the patient, well tuned eye. Great poem!
