Sad Sammy Starfish

I don't normally post more than one poem a day but I wrote this last night and thought I would share it today - just for poetic licence my lady starfish has eight arms not the usual five!!!!

Sad Sammy starfish, all alone on the beach Wishes to find a soulmate, but no one is in reach He looks around, raises his hands into the air Is there a lonely starfish somewhere out there Suddenly Sammy espies upon a rock A stunning pink starfish wearing a frock She's very beautiful of that he's aware Has he found that special someone out there He sidles over to her and soon catches her eye Will she be his playmate; he looks up to the sky Sammy wants hold her hand and ask her for a date But which hand would he hold for this starfish has eight! They head off for a walk together along the golden sand Strolling along the beach hand in hand in hand in hand Submitted to Story Poem Contest by Carol Eastman 26th April 2015

Sammy wants to hold her hand and ask her for a date. I really enjoyed the flow of this rhyme...I think children and adults alike would love this one. A fav for me!

Thanks Armand I penned this is about 10 minutes in the pub on Saturday and wrote another 4 poems that night - i did a series of similar style animal poems last year:-) love and hugs Jan xx

It is really a fun poem Jan it just rolls and strolls along "hand in hand in hand" I really like it. I am in awe how you manage to produce such wonderful pieces seemingly effortlessly . Love Shane xxx

I have to admit this was written in the pub on Saturday night whilst listening to live music - it must inspire me as I wrote 5 other poems in just over and hour - this took about 10 minutes - sometimes they just flow! Hugs Jan xx

Oh this is excellent Jan!!! Why would you feel bad for posting more than one a day? I have several favorite poets that I really enjoy reading their poetry (including you). It is a nice treat to have more to read.

I don't like to flood the site with poems Anna I prefer to get the one I poem get some reads and comments before I post another one but I relented today as i am so happy with this poem - I did about 5 other similar animal themed poems last year:-) Hugs Jan xx

lo! that's 8 plus 5 so they have 13 hands between the two of them...no need to say, scratch my back and i'll scratch yours...or like what you said down, while the other hands are holding each other...the others would be doing a whole lot different thing!!! Like what you say? Dunno, i was just echoing your words!hahaha...Hugs at ya, lady! PS...of all times, why am I having the BLOCK???

LOL my thoughts exactly Kim - I went out last night to listen to live music - took my trusty note pad and penned about 5 poems - this was a favourite so i had to post it today - rare for me to post more than one even if I have poems in hand - your muse will come back - write a poem about the frustration of it deserting you:-) Hugs Jan xx

Thanks for the lovely comment BW - I try not to post more than one so it actually gets the chance to be read - I do wish they would limit postings to 5 a day otherwise our one poem head off the list so quickly hey ho such is life :-) the homophone poems are great fun - Jerry will have a tough task judging:-) Hugs Jan xx
