Rolling Tides Are To Changing Seasons As Changing Seasons Are To Broken Bones
Rolling Tides Are To Changing Seasons As Changing Seasons Are To Broken Bones
Rolling tides are to changing seasons as changing seasons are to broken bones
Scars are to mistakes as mistakes are to experience
Scars are to be celebrated as we would celebrate anything else
The embracing of scars is the embracing of a backstory, of a blank canvas that is no longer blank, a canvas that is filled with color
Exquisite, swirling, ethereal color
Life is the artist and our scars are its signature, left to mark us and remind us that we have survived, that we have survived change, and fear, and love, and death, and life, and taken it all with a smile
Rolling tides are to changing seasons as changing seasons are to broken bones as broken bones are to the rest of the things that people fear for the sole reason that they cannot control them
Just as we are helpless when the moon becomes shy and pulls the ocean tides back with it as it hides behind the stars, we are helpless when the leaves lose their color and fall to be trampled beneath our feet, we are helpless and can do nothing but watch when a heart shatters like windshield glass on a highway
On a terrible, wonderful, dreadful, incredible highway
Sugar is to coffee as coffee is to early mornings curled up on a couch with someone you love
Flowers are to graves as graves are to a heart that no longer beats
“Our hearts go out to the victims’ family”
Things like that leave a scar, one that people, understandably, want to hide, to lock away in a shoebox under the bed with the rest of the family photos
Rolling tides of tears and the changing seasons of emotion in your head, broken bones because you thought you could fly
You couldn’t fly
Rolling tides are to changing seasons as changing seasons are to broken bones, but it is only that way because we fear them
We shouldn’t, but we do
We shouldn’t, but we do, so it will remain
Rolling tides are to changing seasons as changing seasons are to broken bones
