Robin-Redbreasts evoke Spring
through the melodies they sing.
And on a grey, cloudy day,
their songs chase the blues away.
While April rains quench Earth's thirst,
Robin-Redbreasts arrive first.
And decked out in red and black,
bring a splash of color back.
When green clashes with white snow,
Robin-Redbreasts start to show.
And flaunting their crimson breasts;
they begin building their nests.
Their yellow beak and black head;
offset feathers tinted red.
A welcomed flash of color;
ascends on Winter's squalor.
Hunting at the crack of Dawn;
they tug earthworms from the lawn.
And ignore us when we're near;
knowing they've nothing to fear.
