One of my favourite birds is the Robin Redbreast I see him on my lawn with his bright scarlet chest A territorial bird, he’ll guard his piece of the land If another bird ventures in then he will take a stand When I’m digging my border, he will perch in a shrub fly near to my spade then eat a small weevil or grub He is ever so friendly, he visits me every day I’m so thrilled this little Robin is here to stay Writing Challenge, October 2019 - Bird - Poetry Contest Sponsored by Dear Heart -Wiishkobe Ode 10/15/19

Jan, congratulations on your win in my writing challenge with this exceptional poem, I love robins, here in Canada they represent that Spring has arrived. I like how they claim their little territory, like a backyard !

I enjoyed this delightful poem, Jan. You chose an inspiring bird. At this time of year we get lots of robins coming over to enjoy our mild winter, and I love to see them in the garden. Congratulations on your fine win. Hugs // paul

Hello Jan … bird watching is my favourite hobby. To have a bird like your robin is heaven sent for me. We do have robin redbreasts here, but we only see them in winter when they come out of the forests. The red breast is scarlet red, and like your delightful robin, they are quite friendly - thank you Jan - Lindsay

a lovely poem, jan, and a perfect one for the contest - best of luck! the robins we have around here look different from the one you've pictured, though - they're bigger and not nearly as cute...
