Rewinding Time With a Child's Magical Power
I went to sleep early one night
with this wish to rewind time,
using a child's magical power;
it doesn't work for everyone,
but children hold the key
to this little known secret:
they know they can go far
and they can defy reality.
With open eyes I started
to dream, to speak simple
and innocent words that any
child uses to communicate
with a wizard or a fair lady.
Suddenly a sensation and tremble
went through my being; my dizzy head
spun, I saw many sparkles and sprinkles
coming down from a cloud of white...
I could not contain my happiness.
Then a gentle voice broke through,
" Old people can only wish once,
the young ones can wish many times. "
I was upset by that unkind comment
and replied, " I have never wished
for anything, I am allowed to two wishes. "
" I can allow it, but be warned
that these are the last ones ever granted. "
After my consent, I drifted into the blue...
my body changed, my wrinkles disappeared.
As warned by the bearded face wizard with flaming eyes,
" The magical power works well, but it lasts too briefly."
I woke up with a big chill and pinched my cold face:
I was still alive, but had returned to the golden years;
before I invoked that wizard who showed benevolence,
I thought of the possibility of rewinding time instantly!
