Retrieving

Halfway through shampooing the dog, it came.... A new idea for a poem. I tried to scribble it on to the floor with a soapy finger No one else to tell, except the dog... He just looked bewildered, and shook his body violently Splashing water everywhere, erasing my verse.... Quinching that wonderful lightbulb moment. It was as if it had vanished into thin air Gone forever.......never to be retrived..... I asked my dog if he remembered any of what I had said He just shook himself again, and I let him free... My retriever ran off, like the words of my poem.... Free at last...free at last.... Retrieving a poem...or a wet retriever....isn't easy....

Retrieving a retriever is no sweat. Take it from me, trying to Labrador a Labrador is much, much tougher. Due to its sheer size and power, a Lab could pull you on its leash till you stumble and fall, face down. Our only consolation: we could always write a poem about our fall...face down!!! LOL Fred

We, of the poetic persuasion, share so much, yet we are also different. One things for sure. If we don't write it down. It will be lost forever. I believe we are all poets, some of us just choose to write it down.

This is a powerful use of analogy, and it took me along a path familiar ... I want to thank for touching the humanity of the artist with mortality of the art. Great write. Peace and love

You got me laughing on this one for sure, Carrie! Who of us can't identify with this? (Carrie's 'Unfinished Symphony' maybe?)...all I can say is I hope you retrieve it...but this will do just fine for now! - Tim
