Retail Christmas 2

It's one week till Christmas
And we've had enough
Of grumpy old shoppers
Complaining about stuff.

They hate the line-ups,
They hate the cashiers.
They won't be happy
Till they have us in tears.

The things they are after
Are long gone from the store.
They find it incredulous
We won't be getting more.

Last minute shoppers
Are a pain in the rump.
Each night by closing
This place looks like a dump.

One more week to go,
I sure hope we make it
But in the meantime
We'll just smile and fake it.

I worked three months at a Best Buy, and I consider that three months of my life wasted. You described retail life from a cashier's point of view quite well with your usual great descriptiveness and rhyming.

One of my two jobs is in retail and I understand your message here. Funny for some but it's also too true. I can't find the time to finish my shopping and now there's nothing left. Woe to those who wait too long. You could write one for the New Yar's Resolution contest about shopping earlier next year. Thank you for your comments. Diane

Francine, your just the babe of rhymes. They flow and flow and look after themselves. And that's all down to the writer, you - nice one >> James :)

Such a witty rhyme! I love it. Do you work in retail, Francine? It must be tough telling eager shoppers the merchandise they want has sold out. I don't like crowds so this time of year I try to have all my shopping done early. A very funny, fast-paced holiday poem for my faves. Love, Carolyn
