Resolutions For the New Year
As the spent year sinks in the cauldron of history,
tracing the fading furrow of the setting sun’s blaze,
engraved within the realm of remembrance,
the new one is waiting to unfurl the buds of promise.
My children who’ve grown wings of freedom,
have flown away to the sky they have chosen.
In the new year I wish they all will return
to the longing nest I will make for them.
In my earnest pledge I will hopefully resolve,
I will mend with love the hearts I’ve unknowingly broken.
The dreams that have eluded me in the year going by,
I wish to fulfill before they’re abandoned in the wrap of time.
For those in the dark night linger in the domain of despair,
a heartening dawn of hope I will seek in the new year.
For those ailing and suffering I will pray for God’s grace,
wishing the new year won’t take too soon my allotted time.
