Refurbished Nursery Rhymes: Rub-A-Dub-Dub

What nursery rhyme's gayer, I'm asking you, bub, Than the one that has three grown men sharing a tub? Was it their sexual orientation, Or merely water conservation, And they were all charter members of the Sierra Club?

This is a funny one. Revisionist limericks could become a trend. Mother Goose never had access to the rhymezone web site, I guess.

Creative for sure. I can remember that one from when I was a child and the illustrations on the page. I was wondering about why were they in a tub myself back then but some of those things mentioned here I had no idea about. Day of innocence. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for dropping by my page. Sara

It was one of my favorites, too, Sara, but I don't think I ever gave it any other consideration. Innocence, indeed!

Good limerick, Jim. Refurbished rhyme, good ideal. I guess the tub is better than stuck in a sub. lol Have a good day. Bill

Never gave it a thought…but you make me wonder! Could have been like a hot tub. A butcher, baker and candlestick maker…hmm.

Thanks, Kim. Yeah, Mother Goose leaves a lot of things open to interpretation.
