Notes About The Poem

Reflections on a Swing - SK

Finding a place to belong,
in childhood's lonely song,
up on grandma's swing,
I fly high and sing.

Sailing in the clouds of blue,
finding joy so true,
supported by a walnut tree,
I am finally free.

As my friendless soul escapes
by the tangerines and grapes,
I sail from earth to heaven,
a boy of only seven.

Birdy, please, a quill to pen,
for when I'm back on earth again.

Awwwn this is such a nostalgic poem, dear David, with sweet memories.. with your grandma too.. reading this makes me remember abt the swing we had in our garden, and also the pretty one my dad brought for our balcony, I loved swinging back then n i wish those days would hv continued. What u said any lonely childhood, "childhood's lonely song" I felt that close to my heart and it resonates, as I did not hv any real friends since the very beginning. Sigh! Such a beautiful poem by you today! love everything about this! a fave for sure ~ keep writinnn n shininnn 🌙🍂🍁💫✨

Thanks, Anne-Lise, yup, the swingset actually hung from a metal frame, but it was between the walnut tree and the tangerine tree and next to the grapes. They had a great yard and a great swing set!
