How creative and true about these butterflies of the night - an ambush of tigers, is such an apt description, maybe even more dangerous than a tiger. Congratulations on your win my dear friend Paul, hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Hi Paul, A belated congratulations on this well crafted senryu. I visited one in Amsterdam in 2004 with a friend. As sad it was to see those lovely young women in their display cages at least the Dutch keep it clean.

Greetings Paul. You have captured the emotional wilderness of the "red light district" and the sense of peril at "every corner." This metaphoric artistry. Thank you for sharing this poem. Blessings to you!

Having seen some of those districts in places like Amsterdam and also some places in asia, i felt like you did describe it very well in few syllables, flesh thirsty tigers…do not care for the ones that are helplessly exposed. Zxexactly what iv seen. Sad scene too in some ways, pleasure reading your work, best wishes always

Hello Paul, I love your words and Tiger can fit the bill quite nicely. They are independent, fierce, stealthy, and go after what they want. I enjoyed reading this one! - Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

I see that visitors to this post seem to prefer cougars lol, but they're ignoring the fact that men of a certain age could be at a disadvantage :) Thank you for the 'like', Andrea. // paul

Dear Paul, sometimes less is so much more, and that's certainly the case here. ' At every corner, ' there's ' an ambush of tigers. ' Soooo true. Always stay aware and alert, I find that's the best way to avoid an attack. Your thoughts are deep and powerful. Many wonderful blessings to you, my dear friend. Hugs, Brandy

Hmmmmm...tigers, eh? In the red light district? Cougars more like it. Good luck in the contest.

Cougars is the term for older women who go out with younger men. ;)

Nice one Paul. I never knew that was the collective noun for tigers. :) .. I’m thinking a litter of cougars too :). Cheers - Gary

Yes, Gary, cougars would have been equally effective, after all both are in the Panthera genus; it was the word "ambush" which tipped the scales :) Thank you for stopping by. Regards // paul

Reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. A good name for family of tigers. I wonder who named them that. Thanks for sharing this one with us. Sara K

Thank you, Sara. I too wonder where "an ambush of tigers" originated from, but most collective nouns get me stumped that way! Regards // paul
