Redemption
Perished dreams six feet deep
Moonlight torment, spirits weep
Dead tears shed, petrified
Vision no longer starry-eyed.
Blue, grey shadows softly sigh
Dead of night, morbid sky
Gravestones dominate terrain
Alive with humanity's endless pain.
Elaborate place of ancient dead
Loving tributes seldom read
Mausoleum, lonely grave
Stagnant state, distinct malaise
Ancient whisper speaks of sorrow
Palpable sadness no tomorrow
Grey shadow gone, soul does fly
Redemption found, final goodbye.
This is poem I wrote and edited after a visit to 'Mount Jerome' a Victorian cemetery, in Dublin, established 1836. Memorials, vaults, tombs, and crypts are reminiscent of the period. The atmosphere left an impression of undying hope. Original date of poem 3rd March2015
