Red

An apple red as blood
Here you go dear
Take it with cheer
It's sweet as sweet can be

If only you would run away
Or something like that
My mirror just won't let me be
As I look into it, it keeps reminding me

Alas, I'm not the fairest of them all
That makes my blood boil as I walk past

My husband says, Oh my beauty she is a child
I say, yes, she is a coming of age child
And she is your child at that
There can only be one queen of this manor

I will send my huntsman to retrieve her heart
Then maybe this thorn in my side will subside
She will be gone once and for all from my site

Or maybe the huntsman will be her prince charming
And they will ride off together, never to be seen again

So here my child take this apple and eat
This blood red apple is calling to you
And be on your way for good this day
I should never want to see you again

 9/ 19/ 2012 9pm Sunday
I wrote it as I was watching the add for snow white & the huntsman with Charlize Theron,,, she is a favorite actress of mine .

Vanity--it seems can lead to some incredible adventures. Mirror mirror on the wall / who's insanest of them all? / Nasty, mean, from Islam / said the glass 'tis Saddam. / Appalled Bush bawled, "Bastard you'll fall." So--you chose to write about something quite important. Your sense of direction must be really good. Certainly appreciated here. I am impressed. Also, you have good taste in actresses!

Now that I have read your poem, I will have to check out that flick. I liked Charlize in "That Thing You Do". She only played a small part in that film. Despite a few typos present, this is a good write.

a fairy tale from a different perspective indeed! Thanks for your comment on Blood on the Ballot. Whether or not there are many homeless children in the world is no excuse to kill the innocent ones coming into it. There are other alternatives to the barbaric scenario the world chooses today. perhaps some day we as a people will become civilized. One can only hope. Thanks again, Debbie.I liked your take on the fairy tale.

Debbie, i love that movie...I'm a sucker when it comes to fairy-tales tales... especially twisted ones... And Charlize, is one of my top actresses... I give her two thumbs up on the wicked queen role. You know after watching her in the Movie "MONSTER" I knew she would rock the evil crude acting in her performance. I was happy to see it when the movie first came out.. love your poem,, very vivid... xox~pd
