Red - the Bladed Keyboard
It was a wooden thing with keys black and white
It was a wooden thing with keys black and white
When I first tried to place my fingers just right
I'd then been grinning with no reason to cry
For the world seemed intent on wiping my tears dry.
A melody drifted from my fingers to the keys
And I saw a paradise of rainbows and trees.
I smiled and played throughout the day
Thinking the world would finally go my way
But then a finger of mine struck a wrong note
And as a shark's jaw tearing at a boat
The keys that once shone ivory white
Became jagged blades in the menacing twilight
I tried to lift my hands from my piano's mercy
But my once lovely tune became a menacing melody
I was captured and despite piercing pain
I played my devil tune again and again
So over the keys, my fingers bled,
Tainting my music a dark shade of red.
