Reach Out My Hand

How, my dear friend, will we ever manage To leap across this yawning wide divide But losing your friendship provides no advantage Only knows that sorrow and anger ever do collide Our ways of being differ yet we fondly blend How I do want my heart to learn quick forgiveness To let unfurl the threads that bind and mend Not hold to ways of blocked resistiveness Reach out my hand and move these days beyond The week is long without your gleeful laugh I hope my invitation helps you to respond That we did not hit our downward graph So sit with me to take a meal in the quiet of the night Over wine we will remember to cherish our delight Bridge Over Troubled Water contest 5th place written 5-14-2020

We do need more of this type of compassion, it's true John. Thank you for stopping by to tell me you liked it.

Greetings Jeanne. Forgiveness is truly a bridge like a hand extended asking for a cherished friendship to be mended and move on. Friendship is a treasure. So nicely done. Congratulatioins!

Beautiful and witty. Words of gracious flow, developing extra limbs to double-embrace the mind.

Great rhyming couplet at the end, of a gentle poem, about forgiveness and more! (I used to love Iambic pentameter in sonnets, but adapted it for prayer this year). I look fwd to your TOC, contents here, & more fun reads. Shalom, shalOM

A sonnet can have such beautiful rhythm but I seldom find them an easy write. Thanks for stopping by for a read and for your encouragement, Anil.
