Random Memory

When that memory comes back to haunt you, Recall what humble beginnings it shares It returns what started inside, long ago, Your vast storehouse of experience, ‘tis true, Though you might not recall its slumbering lairs So low. Consider what deep thoughts repose inside For years hidden, ever festering, who cares, Until your mind can no longer hold them in, so … Hurls them into your consciousness; never died, Let go!

Thanks, Andrea. You are very kind. I enjoyed working on this poem because I was experimenting with a form I had not used before. Nice to meet you!

Hi LMilton. This is a poignant write. Our memories can hide in our unconscious for many years. Some come forth gently with smiles, others like a hammer. Linda

Linda, I can't thank you enough for your response to my poem. I was experimenting with what I call a "corrupted" sonnet. I don't know whether I succeeded, but I thought it was a good shot. I appreciate your comment!
