Rainbow Colours

Before you took your final breath Before your spirit soared up high Your hands so cold, I whispered ‘why’ Without you how could I survive In the afternoon you left me dear Deep December such a terrible year Windows open sun shining through You began a life anew for you In utter despair I needed some air So alone I walked towards the sea Bestowing such solace to me in the past Now seeming so dark and cruel to me High and strong, waves rolled along The roaring was all consuming It filled my head this ebb and flow Soothing my grief my tears were easing Searching the skies for your goodbyes A double rainbow before my eyes Our love unbroken our love immense Like colours in a rainbow - vibrant and intense Written 6th November 2018 Contest: Early March 2019 Sponsor: Brian Strand 1st place
