Notes About The Poem

my dearest soupers ~ To say that I've missed y'all would be an understatement.. during these years, so much has happened , so much has changed — but with that, my love for poetry is still as eternal, still has pure.. A lil life update : I'm in university now, completed the sophomore year and will start the third year of engineering in august. All this time I've been away from soup, I've been focused on some things that were necessary for shaping my career & my life ahead.. but my yearning to return here has always been strong and unshakable. some moments, I couldn't get the time to sigh and breathe, but slowly.. and steadily.. I'm feeling more in my essence.. My most sincere apologies for the sudden disappearance and the inconsistency that I've shown, but believe me, I still admire you all, your hearts & your poetry, just the same as before.. I'm happier than ever, to be BACK! Also, the weather is in havoc here, just abt yesterday, we were gettin' heatwaves in the afternoon, then thunderous rain hit in the evening along with hailstorm.. crazy climatic alarms! but well, these events inspired my long lost muse ~ and therefore, I painted this poem, connecting the confused sky with human metaphors — cuz well.. I hope y'all love reading this tiny bit of ride ~ have a sparkling Saturday and a whimsical weekend my poetic souls, I'll slowly be reading more of your beautiful works during this time, ah, how I've deeply missed them.. thank you so much for all the patience & care, I'm blessed and very grateful ~ most sincerely, with bundles of love, light & fairy sparks, your soulful heart.

rain and ruin

I'm frostbitten summer-smoke,
   a pensive
                p r i n ce s s ~
pressed in the cold satin streaks of
Brontë-butterflies,
dying at the edge of awakening,
through the voiceless ruffles
of electric blue lies ~
where haunt and hiraeth are heard
in the gold-spawn scales of snake green sighs...

there, while I pay homage
in the temple of torment
singing a siren ~
shaped in the requiem of revenge,
the sun cries in cawing crimsons
as I keep sketching you
in ominous o
                     u
                     t lines ~
wearing the nonchalant noose
of raven rictameters...
but you still break like the weather,
and b
          l e
               e d
                      into the veins
of cathartic rivers,
becoming the unshakable sky,
I could never reach...
and I still remain the unholy scent
of Medusa-tongued bouquet,
mourning upon your casket...

We are ~
nefarious naughts
knotted
in the throat of kismet,
we are ~
the criminalised catastrophé
masked with a macabre monsoon,
as we are ~
the vandalised victim
and the compromised culprit,
the secret of megalomaniac sunset
remembered in rain and ruin.

Interesting to hear about you Hiya. Wild imagery! You got me curious, and now I know what rictameter is.

Pleased to read your new dramatic poem Hiya. The weather gets so big and overwhelming, and also emotions. Other times (hopefully) the weather/ emotion is backstage (especially when studying, or on a project, when the clothes are left on the line in the rain because they are unnoticed). J :-)

Sometimes when it rains and through nature we think of those that kismet didnt allow further into our hearts, but remain still etched in veins, the monsoon monsters are on loose and the weather seems unpredictable and turbulent lately here too, quite bipolar. Brilliant alliterations and metaphors throughout, im so glad to see you were inspired as I know youv been on a break from poetry not just here but also on insta. Keep writing and stay real to your heart, express what you suppress dear Hiya. Life; she knows how to shake us back into a zone and mood where we feel the need to again rise despite the struggles! Beautiful presentation of word weaving, and I love the picture used here too! Pleasure reading you today. Sending you light always

Glad to see you back after a long interval. Even during your hectic term in the university as an Engineering student, we are so happy to note that you remember us- your friends in Poetry Soup and sustain your deep interest in poetry. Now the climate is so erratic everywhere. A few days before, we too suffered from a relentlessly burning sun. Thank God, we are having monsoon rains most of the days, but it is not 'a macabre monsoon'. Initially when the rain started here, it was exactly rain and ruin with thunderstorms and landslides. Nefarious naught, criminalized catastrophe, vandalized victim.... love all these alliterative coinages. Outstanding composition dear Hiya.

"pressed in the cold satin streaks of Brontë-butterflies, dying at the edge of awakening," -- Wow, great imagery! "the vandalised victim and the compromised culprit, the secret of megalomaniac sunset remembered in rain and ruin." -- Engineer and poet. Both!! No need to ever settle for 1,2, or as many as you like. Blessings my friend. Good to see you.

awwn really, I didn't know! well, we all do need a break sometimes to focus on healing and moreover, what actually needs us. I hope you're doing okay, Anne and everything's better for you now. Feeling great to be back ~ stearing in whimsical waters, haha. Sending love, hugs, light and best wishes to you always! :)

You have been missed Hiya, but you owe no apologies for living your life as you must. No one can deter Nature's hand at calming the wind or preventing monsoon floods. I can feel the need you had for writing as if you were a storm cloud in need of releasing your rain. Hugs and welcome back.

Thank you so much, precious soul! Your words inspire me alot, yes sometimes we have to make choices that are right for our lives. At that point, it was the best for me to focus on priorities, and through that all, I've grown to know myself even better, feeling more in the essence ~ thank you for understanding, sweet Lin. Nature is truly unpredictable, and the seasonal changes here have everyone in shock ~ but there's more to witness. I absolutely needed to release, a cathartic therapy, if I must say, haha! I want to write as much as I can now, I still used to do so, during my time away, didn't stop actually, but soup feels different when it comes to writing, it feels home. Grateful for such a warm welcome my dear friend! I hope you have been doing well ~ hugs, love and light always, my best wishes and thoughts!
