Rain

Laying here in this field,
Alone
Rain drops begin to fall
The moon so full and bright
I can see the drops before they land.
This rain feels as though its cleansing my soul
Purifying old memories,
Old emotions
Washing my old and weathered state
For hours I lay here
In this grassy field
Drenched, to my inner being
The rain slows
Til it stops all together.
I open my eyes to see
Beautiful clear sky
The stars flickering
The moon so vibrant
I stand
And I know the rain washed away.....
Nothing

I often judge a poet by the way he/she writes about rain... this is poignant and so well expressed. Your ending gives it an unexpected depth. Well done Lisa! Best wishes, Keith
