RIVER ———————————- My trail comes to face a wide river With no bridges to be seen under these evergreens — Outdoing one another in height. No rustling leaves underfoot: The pines let fall their needles For years and years, so I walk over a padded bed of silence Laid thick upon the earth, softly, light browns beside The sparkling…gurgling…never-to-end Swooshing bustle-rush of the river’s Blue flowing full with divine signs, gifts, I am meant To mark this spot, stop where I stand Of a glance endowed with inspiration From nature’s lit beauty I will paint fast in memory. ———————————————————————————————- (c) sally ypung Eslinger 12/21/2 Thanks be to God

"The sparkling…gurgling…never-to-end Swooshing bustle-rush of the river’s Blue flowing full with divine signs", ..... What fantastic description of the sweetly flowing river. When there is a pervading silence around, it is such a pleasure watching its s meandering with a gurgling swooshing sound ! Sally this is great poetry

Quick, quick -- like a bunny... for memory doth fade with the long, weary winter night. ~ Alfred Lord Tennyson (just kidding)

I live in the Pacific Northwest, so this one really resonates with me, especially the description of 'outdoing each other in height' and 'blue flowing full with divine signs' (nice internal rhyme on that one, too!) Makes me want to grab my hiking boots and hit the nearest trail!

For sure; such moments are the treasures to keep -- ours to carry with us throughout eternity. Lovely imagery. Deep and plush with pondering thought. Joe.

I love this beautifully portrayed, inspiring verse, Sally. I enjoyed it immensely, but the final six lines are my favorites. Blessings.

Sally, what I've done in posting photos I painted or want, I have my husband's messenger on Facebook. I copy the photo and paste it in his messenger. I right click on the photo I've posted and click on "copy image link". I post the address on the photo part of the submit poem. You can do the same for your page photos on Poetry Soup... I hope this helps. I too , need to do more still life , but I haven't done it in years. Mostly out of photos I take

Thank you, Eve. I’ve been spending 2022 so far mostly doing more visual art. Sure wish it was easier to post pics. I’m clueless. Even studying poetry too. Trying to improve. I bought your Rapsody today xox
