Quiet Reflections

As days vanish in the distance of time And I have reached a foreign thought of death Memories burn away in flames to climb The last vestige of life to leave with breath I'll think of each kiss met along the way And mists of dim lit eyes with love's consent In my head hear voices so loud they stay To visit shadowed faces of lament Though life is a rush of passion's traveled Can I now die in thoughts of yesterday Love was wound a tighter ball unraveled Filled with broken strings tied to my dismay Pains were shared as a lover tends to do I'll find forgiveness when last breath is through 6/20/18 contest My Muse, Mortal

This is one of the first ones I read, Frederic, and I KNEW it would be near the top of the list when all was said and done ... your imagery and ability to convey deep emotion is rare, and everything you write drips off the tongue like honey, this was no exception, and went deep to the core. Superb! Congratulations on your SECOND PLACE in the 'My Muse, Mortal' Poetry Contest - blessings, my friend! :-)

Frederic, a deep, moving and contemplative poem of seeking atonement. Profound emotional imagery of broken relationships and pain.. 'Love was wound a tighter ball unraveled filled with broken strings tied to my dismay' - so breathtaking in its sad beauty.. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan
