Puppet On a String

I am just a puppet on a string Waiting for others to choose ""my thing"" If I do well, I get a pat on the back But if I make a mistake, I can feel the slack I let folks control my feelings you see Always worried how they feel about me If I could be me without other's ok I would not be concerned about what they say The tension I feel is so very strong To wonder if my life is right or wrong Please help me Lord to be able to see That life is worth living by just being Me
