Pterodactyl Girl
Pterodactyl Girl
Saliva warm in morning in the mouth
Ugly taste of last evening waiting there
You know how nasty your breath is when you wake
To inhale would be a mistake
Girlfriend next to you, double bed ready, still asleep
Black make up about her eyes, running down her face for cover
Pterodactyl hair, long, thick, scary, next to you
That face did not look like that last night
Funny what a few drinks can do
Her head turns toward you exorcist style
The wide eyes open pillow close and cozy
Expecting primal noises from her you turn
She wakes and says, “Morning dear.”
Last night was love but now is fear
Frozen on the bed you construct a smile
It is your constitution to be human
Even though the lovely creature, your lover next to you
Turned pterodactyl over night
